In life, we all experience seasons of separation. Those moments when it feels like we’re drifting away from what’s familiar, letting go of old attachments, and stepping into the unknown. It’s during these times that we often find ourselves questioning the purpose behind the separation and seeking a deeper connection with our faith. In this blog post, we’ll explore the concept of the “season of separation” discussed in a recent podcast and how it can be a profound journey of preparation and self-discovery.
“The season of separation is a season of preparation.” These powerful words remind us that the periods of detachment from our usual surroundings and routines are not in vain. Instead, they serve as essential preparation for what lies ahead. Sometimes, God puts us through these seasons to separate us before guiding us towards something greater. It’s about surrendering everything we thought we wanted and embracing His purpose.
Transition starts with an internal shift—an awareness that separation is necessary. It’s the moment when you decide that it’s time to take action, to break away from the familiar, and to explore new horizons. This internal decision is the first step towards meaningful change.
Separation allows you to identify yourself with greater awareness and confidence. When you realize that your identity isn’t tied to the things around you, you can embrace your true self. Both hosts of the podcast share how they experienced this transformation when they separated from their familiar environments, even leaving behind their hometowns and colleges.
Separation often coincides with feelings of loneliness and isolation. It’s in these moments that we yearn for a deeper connection with our faith and our Creator. The craving for connection drives us to seek God’s guidance and ask, “What are you trying to show me? What do you want me to learn?”
To fully embrace the season of separation, it’s crucial to be patient and open to learning and growth. Sometimes, we may find ourselves longing for the alone time we once had, even if it was marked by loneliness. This paradox reminds us to cherish each season for what it offers and to trust in God’s plan.
No matter the circumstances—whether it’s singleness, loneliness, or job loss—every season has a purpose. It’s not meant to make us feel sorry for ourselves but to equip us with experiences that can help others. Recognizing God’s intentionality in our lives, we can learn to praise Him through it all, knowing that He is with us.
Romans 8:39 reminds us that nothing, absolutely nothing, can separate us from the love of God. His love is unwavering, whether we fully accept it or not. He intentionally shows us His love in the smallest, most significant ways, even during seasons of loneliness and isolation.
As we navigate through our own seasons of separation, we become beacons of light for others. Sharing our faith and experiences online can serve as a reminder of our purpose in these moments. We are here to let others know they are not alone, helping them connect with like-minded individuals on their spiritual journey.
Lastly, we’re reminded that technology, like our phones, can be both a blessing and a hindrance during separation. We can use it as a tool to connect, build businesses, start ministries, and spread our message. But we must be mindful not to let it become a barrier that isolates us further.
In conclusion, the season of separation is not a time to despair but an opportunity to prepare, discover our true selves, and deepen our connection with God. It’s a season of purpose and growth. As we navigate these seasons with patience and faith, we can find meaning in every moment and share our light with others who are also on their journey of self-discovery and faith.

Do you have issues when it comes to boundaries? In this episode, we have a guest speaker who has been a teacher, mentor, volunteer and board member of Christian Women’s Job Corporation of Tyler for 25 years. This is a ministry equipping women with job skills and life skills in a Christ-centered environment. We are honored to have the one and only Gay Brookshire on the podcast with us.
Boundaries are your property line. They’re what define what is you and what isn’t you. Boundaries help us distinguish between what is and what isn’t. For example, you don’t mow your neighbors yard unless they’ve broken a leg and you’re doing something nice.
Boundaries are important because they keep you focused. They help to keep you focused on what is important. It’s hard to keep focused if you make your boundaries known or visible. Do your boundaries allow you to stay focused?
There’s multiple types of boundaries and you can hear all of them in the podcast episode, but we’re going to dive into 3 of them in this blog post.
Your most basic boundary is your skin. It’s literally holding all of you together. If you didn’t have it, you’d be a puddle. Everybody has sin and so it’s super important to pay attention to how people treat that part of yourself. Your skin is your most basic boundary, take care of it.
Your words are also boundaries. You can use them, especially the word no, but also what you’re telling people because when you’re teaching people about your boundaries, you’re teaching them how to treat you. Truth is another boundary related to words. If you’re paying attention to the truths others are speaking about you, then you’re not hearing God’s truths over your life. Whenever you’re down on yourself, read your BIble and read the truth about God’s opinion of who you are
Time is a great boundary. Time away from something or someone who is causing stress/discomfort/over-stimulation is healthy. Sometimes just removing yourself from a situation and letting things settle down is a great boundary with time. Sometimes you can’t physically remove yourself from a situation so you can just pull yourself away and guard your heart.
Just remember, that you’re not “broken” for no reason (ie: things that have happened) and the damage (injured boundaries) isn’t permanent. It can be fixed!
